Massachusetts requires the registration of snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles if they are being operated on property other than the owners. Massachusetts does not honor out of state registrations.

Instructions for registering:

1. Complete a registration application available from one of the offices listed.
2. Proof of paying Sales Tax, in your home state or here in Massachusetts, must be provided. You must either first pay sales tax in person at a D.O.R. office or online at https://wfb.dor.state.ma.us/webfile/wsi/public/webforms/st6/recreationtaxinfo.aspx.
3. If you are not able to produce a bill of sale indicating sales tax has been paid enclose a photo copy of your registration.
4. For quicker service enclose a .44 cent stamp with your registration application. This will ensure that your application will be processed and mailed the same day it arrives.
5. If you are renewing a registration, make sure you indicate the registration number, SM______ that has been assigned to your vehicle.

  Fees:

Mass residents; $40.00 for two years. Renewals $40.00 for two years. Non Residents; $30.00 for one year registration. Renewals $30.00 for one year. Checks are payable to, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. (Do not send Cash)
