Welcome to the new sledmass website. The name’s the same but the face is far prettier. It wasn’t just cosmetic surgery that brought out her inner beauty, there was a full heart and lung transplant, too. The overhaul is major. The feature list is deep. The project started in the summer of 2009, when our webmaster, Craig Warner, created a list of features that were badly needed. Chief among those was the ability for anyone to edit content without knowledge of code. This had to be so easy even a caveman could do it, myself included. That would free Craig from the tedious and time consuming task of pushing text to the web and the never-ending detail changes like event listings. After a year of planning and work, it’s finally here and people who are technologically challenged are now updating the website on a regular basis. More importantly, clubs can now edit their own page. That feature is absolutely huge. No more middle-man. No more old, inaccurate info. The clubs can make changes as needed. They can post all their basic contact, facts, and trail pass locations, write an overview about their organization, post announcements and trail conditions, and link directly to the forums. They can also post to the events page. Hallelujah.
The new website rocks. Members now have a set of powerful tools at their fingertips that allow them to find just about anything snowmobile-related in Massachusetts; trail conditions, contacts, weekend events, interesting stories, and opinion. It’s all at sledmass.com. To celebrate the website and the New England PowerSport Expo, we are giving away 1,000 free T-Shirts. 500 on Saturday and 500 on Sunday. Each day the first 500 Expo attendees who submit the T-Shirt registration form found at the website will get a shirt. Go to sledmass.com and search for “Free T-Shirt at Expo,” fill out the form and present it at the SAM trailer (details on the web). The New England PowerSport Expo at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds, October 16 & 17, Saturday 9am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm.
