I hope March finds everyone tired from lots of snowmobiling. Our season seems so short but full of activity in those few months. Please remember to get in your charity reports to Rena Sumner or myself, as soon as possible. These numbers show how much good we snowmobilers do as a group.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the clubs and their members for the awesome turnout for the Toys for Tots program we had in December. At the November meeting I passed around a note asking if the clubs would take the time to collect toys and bring them to the December meeting. Not ever doing this before, I didn’t know what kind of response we would get. I was unable to be at the December meeting, so one of our club members picked up the toys and brought them to us. WOW!… I could not believe what I saw when my husband Jeff started unloading the boxes and bags of toys… they just kept coming. I was able to deliver over 80 gifts and a check for $188.00 to the Greenfield Savings Bank Toys for Tots drop-off location in early December. One woman there asked if we had robbed Toys R Us, another person said “that’s awesome… someone is going to be very happy this year.” It is amazing what even a $5.00 toy can do for a child who wasn’t expecting anything from Santa. The more charity work we do, the more I realize how little effort is takes to do wonderful things. Don’t get me wrong; some charity work is very tough, but if you don’t have a lot of time or money a little can go a long way. Continue to challenge your clubs and yourself to find a charity and commit to helping out in whatever way you can.
