School House Trail Timber Harvesting was completed this summer (2016) and the trail will be open to snowmobiling. 1/3 is in great shape, 1/3 is in good shape and 1/3 is rocky (think lots of snow). An attempt is planned to clean it up with an excavator. Stay tuned for details. We still dream of being able to take the Tucker Sno-Cat around the grand loop {Finerty Pond Trail – Schoolhouse Trail – County Road}.

Bucksteep Manor/Vagabon Trail – Bucksteep Manor will most likely remain closed again this year and the dead end Vagabon Trail will not be maintained or groomed. Note: Both local clubs have been trying to find a way to make food available on or near OMSF but they have not been successful.

Berkshire Snow Seekers (BSS) October Mountain State Forest (OMSF) Grooming Reports

All BSS Tucker Sno-Cat grooming reports from the OMSF grooming team will appear in this forum. The state groomer usually does some of the roads and we will try to report their outings. The Otis based Knox Trail Sno-Riders (KTSR) will groom trails in the southeastern portion of OMSF, with a snowmobile based groomer. Please feel free to contribute your own OMSF trail reports to this forum; but try to limit this forum to trail conditions and grooming reports only. Grooming in OMSF will commence when snow conditions permit the Tucker Sno-Cat to access the mountain. Grooming reports will be posted within a couple hours after a grooming run. Please ride responsibly on the mountain and watch out for rocks, trees, limited sight corners, groomers and the occasionally a 4×4 vehicle. Remember safety is your responsibility! Happy Trails.

OMSF has a total of 113 Actual and Potential Snowmobile Trail miles:

48 miles of trails – Active & groomed with the Tucker Sno-Cat
24 miles of trails – Active & groomed with a snowmobile
24 miles of trails – Active & not groomed
17 miles of trails – Inactive
