About our club

Lunenburg Snow Riders Snowmobile ClubThe original Lunenburg Snow Riders was formed in the late 1970’s, and became dormant many years ago. In 2001 the Lunenburg Snow Riders was re-activated and became a not-for-profit organization. Members come from the surrounding communities of Lunenburg, Townsend, Shirley, Ashby, Clinton, Lancaster, Winchendon, Fitchburg, Leominster, Pepperell, Ashburnham, and Westminster.

Lunenburg Snow Riders (LSR) has formed a close working relationship with the Lunenburg Conservation Commission, Boy Scouts and various other groups for the preservation and protection of trails. In the Fall, club members spend numerous hours out in the woods clearing and maintaining the trails.

During the winter months we groom the multi-use trails providing excellent conditions for snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and winter hikers. Recently we have been working with the local conservation Commission and regional planning agency to map public trails.

The Snow Riders continues to participate in fund raising events for various charities including MS, Juvenile diabetes, local food banks and scholarships. It is LSR’s goal to preserve and protect recreational trails in the area for all to continue to enjoy. For more information about the club, visit our Facebook page.

Lunenburg Snow Riders (LSR) provide multi-use trail stewardship across a 4-town area (Lunenburg, Townsend, Ashburnham, and Ashby). LSR, in partnership with other trail stewards, maintains and grooms trails that support recreational use year round. In April ’18, LSR sponsored a Spring Trash Clean-up at Willard Brook State Park in Ashby, and are well underway in trail clean-ups this fall, highlights include: bridge repairs, down tree clearing, and clean-up of established trails. The LSR volunteers are working in concert with Lunenburg Conservation Commission to cut a perimeter trail around a recently logged small town forest, to return this public land to recreational usage. Club members are also working with the conservation commission to map the town trail system.

Lunenburg Snow Riders has submitted a Bridge Project to the Lunenburg Conservation Commission. This 3 year project, which has preliminary endorsement, proposes to replace a failing 140-ft bridge span across Mulpus Brook. Trees will be select harvested from a stand of Hemlock that have been damaged by the Woolly Adelgid. Draft horses will move the trees from the harvest location to an on-site mill. The milled lumber will be utilized to replace the current bridge span. Local clubs are invited to support this project to enjoy the camaraderie that working together brings, and enjoy a bit of our hospitality as well. Event dates will be published via Facebook. Please like and follow our Facebook page for updates.

Please ride our trails with care, respect land-owners, and be responsible.
