Wow, March already… the holiday seasons are way behind us now. The Advent season is the time when we think most about “giving.” The Toys for Tots program was a success again this year with SAM giving over 150 toys and over $100.00 in cash. Catch the picture of the two Miller girl’s as they help deliver the toys to a drop off center. The clubs went over and above in collecting toys and money so others could have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you to everyone who participated. Let us not forget that even though winter is almost over and warmer days are coming, there are still many, many people and families who are in desperate need of food, clothing, and shelter. Keep giving to your local food pantries and shelters. Find out where there is one in your community and volunteer your time, treasure, and talents. Places like these need not only money but also people to help clean, collect and distribute the items. Maybe they are in need of repairs that you have the talent to do. Whatever you can give, give some or give lots… it is so appreciated.

SAM Delegate and charity committee member Herb Hilton was able to present a check on behalf of SAM to Camp SnoMo at their annual Easter Seals meeting. Although we were unable to raise the whole amount needed for two Massachusetts children to attend it was still very much appreciated by them. Let’s see if we can accomplish our goal next year… any ideas?

Please keep in mind we need the SAM Charity Reports and the Trail Reports submitted now. These numbers need to be compiled and reported to our National Charity Chairperson. These figures are so important when we are dealing with our government officials. We can show them how much we as snowmobilers do for others. If you have not done so yet, please go on the SAM website and download the forms. If you need them a different format please let me know, or contact Rena at the SAM office. If you have a story of charity work that you think people would like to hear, let me know. We can post it on the website to share with others. It just might spur someone to do the same. Remember, helping others not only makes them feel good, it will make you feel good too!!! Peace, Marcia.
