About our club

The Florida Mountaineers Snowmobile Club (FMSC), associated with the Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts (SAM), was established in November of 2001. The club, based in Florida and Monroe has over 150 members of which most are families. FMSC promotes safe and responsible snowmobiling as well as provides services to the local community. We pride ourselves in our relationship with local landowners, the Towns and state agencies.

The Florida Mountaineers Snowmobile Club (FMSC) was established in November of 2001 based upon the help of many local residents. Our membership is very diverse and includes hikers, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers, and equestrians from both local towns and out of state.

In addition to trail maintenance and trail grooming, FMSC is also actively involved in community fundraisers and educational programs. Since 2001, the FMSC has donated over $50,000 to local charities, organization and scholarships for area high school students.

Our trail system, which runs through both private and state property, is utilized by cross country skiers, hikers, snowmobiles and equestrians. With over 200 inches of snow annually and some of the highest mountain peaks in the state, our area is one of the most scenic in the Berkshires. FMSC currently maintains and grooms in excess of 50 miles of trails, all through volunteer support and equipment. The trails are made possible through landowner permission as well as agreements with the Town of Florida, Town of Monroe and state agencies. Our trail system interconnects with trails throughout the Northeast including abutting towns of Savoy, Rowe, Charlemont and Adams. In addition, these trails provide a direct link for surrounding towns to the State of Vermont V.A.S.T. trail system.
